Junifest is back!
This years 5th annual Junifest beer festival opens in Bratislava on Friday at the Incheba exhibition centre. The ten-day event that is on between the 13th-22nd June offers many different beers and much Slovak merriment! Inspired by Munich’s famous Oktoberfest – the Slovak version offers crowds a fun summer night out. The unique musical, entertainment and gourmet event is definitely worth a visit! The cultural and entertainment programme offers the greatest stars of Slovak and Czech pop music, together with folklore, rock, country and dance music. Opening night sees a country music festival followed on the Saturday by František Nedved from the Czech Republic live on stage. The highlight of Sunday’s programme of folk and traditional music will be a performance of the Zlaté Husle orchestra. The event will be recorded for TV. Martin Jakubec and the Akcent group also feature. Fans of hard rock will be able to see British heavy metal legends Judas Priest performing live in the Expo Arena on the 16th June. Alternatively in Hall B is the Junifest Top Dance Party with DJ Marco V from Holland and Michael C from the Czech Republic. The programme will reach its climax on Wednesday 18th June when the legend of Czechoslovak pop music Olympic headline. The 21st June sees another Fredy Ayisi Fitness Dance & Zumba Party. Junifest takes place daily from 4pm to 2am. Festival visitors will discover a rich selection of draught beers from various breweries including Stein, Staropramen, Rebel, Budweiser Budvar, Guinness, and Kaltenecker. Beers are served into large one-litre schooners. Various gourmet specialities will include pork ribs, pork knee, goose, and potato pancakes. This year sees Miss Junifest 2008. The beauty pageant’s audience can vote through SMS. Proceeds of this event will go towards the improvement of the quality of oncology patients and their families.
